Whether you are performing an electrical systems infrared inspection or a rooftop infrared moisture survey, everything begins with the thermographer conducting the survey itself. Experience is essential!
A great deal of knowledge and experience in both roofing, electrical and Thermography is required. With roof surveys, weather, roof surface conditions, insulation type, roof type, roof construction methods, and many other factors must be considered before the infrared imager is even turned on.
When choosing a contractor to perform your survey, insure the managing thermographer conducting the survey has the following qualifications:
- Minimum 10 years continuous service conducting rooftop infrared moisture surveys nationwide.
- Minimum 8 years commercial roofing experience.
- Thermographer must survey a minimum 5 million square feet of roofing yearly.
- Electrical systems thermographers must be able to work hand in hand with plant electrical engineers, and be extremely sensitive toward field data acquisition and organization.
- Thermographer must be Certified Level- 2 through a nationally known training company such as the Infraspection Institute.
- Infrared imaging equipment must be calibrated yearly.
- Liability insurance required for $1,000,000,000.
Insisting the thermographer meets these minimum standards insures a quality survey will be conducted and the results of the survey are accurate.
